Head to Head: Vapur vs. The Other
03 Dec 2011

Branded Vapur: Vapur was founded in 2009 to better the planet by finding an alternative to disposable bottles while enhancing the active lifestyle. The mission was to revolutionize the way the world drinks water and in doing so, Vapur became the first flexible, handheld water bottle designed for and marketed to the everyday user. In a few short years, the Anti-Bottle product sparked a water revolution, fostered an ardent following and created a global foldable bottle trend. Today, as the leading designer, marketer and distributor of reusable, handheld, flexible hydration products, Vapur’s Anti-Bottles® have been adopted by athletes, celebrities, activists and families alike. Featured in media outlets throughout the world, for many, Vapur has become synonymous with flexible pouches. The Other: The “other” is exactly that. Other flexible bottle manufactures saw the innovation and branding of the original Anti-Bottle and said, “me too” with lower quality materials and no passion or drive to support doing anything more. Very few flexible bottles on the market are branded and are instead generally sold as freebie giveaways to promotional products companies.   Quality Vapur: Vapur Anti-Bottles are Made in the USA, BPA-free and constructed of three layers of ultra- durable plastic. The innermost layer is made from FDA-approved polyethylene, which is then bonded to two layers of nylon for strength and durability. Every Anti-Bottle is designed to withstand everyday use, regular cleaning, as well as hot and cold temperatures. The inner layer is odor, taste and stain resistant, so it can safely be reused again and again. Every Anti- Bottle is also dishwasher safe, freezable and comes with a one year warranty! When it comes to quality materials, the other can’t “hold water.” The Other: The majority of the other flexible bottles on the market are mass produced in China using less durable, subpar materials. Other flexible bottles also have drastically shorter lifespans, which is usually why they don’t carry anything more than a 30-day warranty. In most cases, the other flexible bottles are meant to break down quicker, so these manufacturers can peddle more.   Sustainable Vapur: From design and manufacturing, to shipping and distribution, right through to consumer use, the environment is considered throughout each step of the Vapur life cycle. The flexible Anti-Bottle uses less energy to make and transport than rigid bottles. Manufactured in the United States, the Vapur Anti-Bottle is lightweight and ships flat, providing lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon emissions. Packaging is also printed with soy ink on wind powered presses, has been designed to minimize paper, glue and scrap. Vapur was awarded the 2010 FPA Silver Award for Sustainability & Environmental Achievement. Beyond the benefits of the product, Vapur has created a community-giving program called, Drops of Hope. Partnering with likeminded companies and organizations, Vapur aims to make disposable bottles obsolete and clean water more accessible than ever. Through Drops of Hope, Vapur annually donates time, funds and thousands of bottles to charitable groups all over the world. The Other: Manufactured in China, most other flexible bottles have a long way to go to get to their new home in the United States - how is that’s sustainable? Sad to say, but most of the other flexible bottles are simply playing the volume game with dollars, but no sense as to the impact it’s having on the world their feeding their low quality products into. For most flexible bottles, it’s about money, not about the end consumer, their children or the world we live in.
