Vapur Beach Bucket List

With headquarters near the Cali coast, it’s a no-brainer that our team here at Vapur, and our families, has summer plans to lounge, surf and swim as much as possible at the beach.  We can guess that many of you have similar plans this summer, no matter which coast you’re on.  But before you find yourself burying your feet in the sand, shading your face under your sun hat, or learning how to SUP, Vapur offers up a handy prep list to make the most of your day at the beach.

Here are some must have’s for your beach bucket, with our Beach “Bucket” List. With a little something for everyone in the family, our list will keep you cool and hip whether your plans include building towering sand castles, catching the biggest waves, or just getting lost in the infinite horizon.

Vapur’s Top 10 Beach “Bucket” List:

1 — Fill and freeze at least one Vapur Anti-Bottle for each member of the family.  Although jumping into the waves seems to cool you off, don’t forget that your body is still losing water through sweat!  Refuel by keeping your foldable, reusable, BPA-free Vapur Anti-Bottle handy.  Pop them in the freezer the night before your trip to keep your water cool throughout the day.

2 — Bring plenty of waterproof, all natural sunscreen.  To find the best sunscreens that protect without nasty chemicals, visit the Environmental Working Group’s Sunscreen Guide.

3 — Don’t forget to protect your eyes with sunglasses that are 100% protected from UVA and B rays.  There are also plenty of options for the little ones.

4 — Choose a wide-brimmed, UV-rated hat to cover your face, neck, and shoulders from the harsh summer sun.

5 — Pack simple, healthy snacks—Most beaches nationwide don’t serve food and many that do, offer unhealthy foods, sweets and sodas.  So, pack a healthy picnic and chill all day long without the beach bloat and sugar crash!

6 — Bring a reliable, practical beach tote.  Waterproof, mesh bags are great because they allow the sand to fall through so you won’t tote the beach home with you.

7 — Bring plenty of over-sized beach towels for lounging, picnicking, and diaper changing!

8 —  If the beach you’re visiting is dog friendly, why not bring the pup? With some doggy treats and a favorite toy, Fido can chase waves all day.

9 — With kids, beach balls and buckets galore, you may want to invest in a toy hauler.  We find that the big-wheeled beach wagons plow through the sand for a smoother ride.

10 — Pack a good book!

The surf is up here in SoCal, so we are checking off our Beach “Bucket” List and heading out for some fun in the sun!  Wishing all our friends and family a fun and safe summer at the beach.  Happy hydrating!

Vacations & Travel

Genius in a bottle – Flexible, foldable, reusbale…no, we’re not talking about your yoga teacher but rather about the new range of Vapur bottles – well, “anti-bottles.” The colourful Vapur series is BPA free and odour, stain and taste resistant and able to hold half a litre of water when full. If that’s not enough to convince you, then the fact that it weighs next to nothing and folds up into a small roll that will fit into your pocket will no doubt push you over the edge.

American Way

Banish bulky water bottles with the collapsible Vapur Element, an amped-up version of the company’s classic Anti-Bottle. Lightweight layers of flexible, BPA-free nylon and antimicrobial polyethylene make this durable, widemouthed travel companion refillable, freezable and washable. Plus, it folds flat enough to tuck in a hiking pack or clip to a carry-on.

Family Time: Get Up & Go!

The past several years have revealed an increasing amount of data about the obesity epidemic and the side effects of poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. With this in mind, it’s more important than ever to give kids the tools to lead a healthy, active lifestyle, every day. Staying active doesn’t necessarily mean paying for a gym membership and spending a dreaded hour on the treadmill three times a week. Increased activity can be incorporated into daily life for the whole family through family time: fun and easy outdoor adventures, sports, and community happenings.

Here are a few of our favorites…

Visit one of the country’s 397 national parks
After reading this MSNBC article we learned that the average age of national park visitors is getting older. While it’s great to see the baby boomers out there appreciating our nation’s beauty, it’s time to reverse the trend! Taking youngsters to our national parks not only educates them about our country’s natural diversity but also helps foster an appreciation of the parks in future generations. National parks offer scenic hikes, wildlife spotting, history lessons, and much more. To find a park near you, visit and use the “Find a Park” search function on the right-hand side.

Support a good cause
Many towns offer “fun runs” (or walks!) with proceeds benefiting charities and community organizations. Depending on the town or city, sometimes hundreds or even thousands of community members get together and make a small donation to run/walk in support of a good cause. Typically these charity races offer non-competitive 1-mile, 10K, 5K or fun-run options in which the whole family can participate. The Vapur team in southern California finds races here.

Make a splash

Going to the swimming pool is one of the most popular go-to activities for American families during summer. Try upping the level of adventure this summer by making it a day at the wave pool or nearest waterpark. It will require more active swimming plus stair climbing to get to the thriller water slides!  You can also make sure your neighborhood pool is keeping their water up-to-snuff.

Fish or cut bait
Instead of waiting for the fish to come to you, paddle out to the fish! Go fishing in a recreational canoe or kayak versus fishing from the banks. By paddling around the lake to find the best fishing holes, your body burns more calories than you would by staying shore side.

Tip: be sure to get your fishing license first!

Sign up for an intramural sport
From softball, soccer, sand volleyball, kickball, or even some dodgeball, most communities now offer organized intramural sports that nearly anyone can enjoy. Intramural sports offer a fun, low-stress way to get outdoors for some good old-fashioned, friendly competition. After making new friends and bonding with teammates, you won’t even remember you’re also getting a workout!

Plant a garden
Dig. Plant. Water. Grow! Take the time this summer to plant a veggie garden in your family’s backyard. It will get you outside and within weeks you will live among an abundance of healthy food that YOU grew, while also enjoying a fun, educational activity with your munchkins!

These are just some of the activities we enjoy but no matter how you get outside and get fit this summer, be sure to stay hydrated by keeping a Vapur Anti-Bottle filled and clipped to you at all times. To avoid heat stroke and dehydration, a good rule of thumb is to drink eight, 8-ounce servings of water each day. We recommend this handy dandy water-calculator to find the right serving size for your gender and body type. When all is said and done, fill and refill your Vapur, get outside and be active!
