April, 2012 Archives

10 year old, Ariana Flores is using the Vapur and RandomKid “Anti-Bottle Project” to help make a difference in her community and the world. Read her story below.
I am Ariana Flores and I am the Philadelphia Kids Ambassador for the Kids Dash for the Cure taking place in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on Mother’s Day 2012. This role will help honor the life of the grandmother I never met because she lost her battle with breast cancer 58 years ago. I recently hosted an event that was both outstanding and a huge success. I raised $480 and met a 26 year old breast cancer survivor with two young boys. So many people came to the South Philly location as well as the Northeast Chuck E Cheese on April 5, 2012. My team/family raffled off many prizes one of which was Vapur Anti-Bottles. We also gave away goodie bags to all of the children that attended this event as our way of saying thank you for helping to raise funds while having fun to fight breast cancer.

Although I am just 10 years old I live in a health conscious family because everyone has to eat different things because of allergies/illnesses. We also care about our environment and understand that how we treat the environment plays a big part in illness and disease. That is why we want to help with the Anti-Bottle Project. I was thankful to raise awareness at my fundraiser and I now want to take it a step further by joining www.randomkid.org. This is the best website I’ve ever been on. Many random kids go out into our environment, our economy, our world and solve problems of today. I like this website because it is an inspiration for young kids all packed up into a URL that tells us to help our future.

Vapur encourages members to eliminate plastic bottle waste

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (April 23, 2012)  – When Vapur® introduced its innovative “Anti-Bottles” in 2009, not only was the company looking to make waves with its bold, trendy and versatile design, but Vapur also wanted to change the way consumers, well, consumed. Right out the gate, Vapur planted its roots deeply in environmental causes, and is expanding these efforts through an enhanced partnership with Recyclebank®.

Recyclebank helps create a more sustainable future by rewarding people for taking everyday green actions with discounts and deals at more than 3,000 local and national businesses. Through digital offerings and partnerships with municipalities, haulers, small businesses and corporate brands, Recyclebank aims to increase recycling rates, curb energy and water consumption, encourage smarter transportation, strengthen local economies and help people realize the financial benefits of making greener choices every day.

Intrigued by Recyclebank’s unique platform and motivated by the organization’s brand mission, Vapur is proud to participate in four of Recyclebank’s earth-conscious campaigns throughout the year, which include: World Water Week, Earth Month, Back to School and Holidays. During the Earth Day campaign, Recyclebank members receive a “buy one, get one free” offer for Vapur’s internationally acclaimed Anti-Bottles.

Vapur first partnered with Recyclebank in January, participating in Recyclebank’s standard rewards program that offers Recyclebank members a 20-percent discount on www.vapur.us. This standard reward will continue throughout the year, running simultaneously with Recyclebank’s the earth-conscious campaigns. The success of the program and Vapur’s commitment to Recyclebank’s mission prompted Vapur to expand its support of the organization. By partnering with like-minded companies, such as Recyclebank, Vapur can support its key mission while also sharing its message with more users and consumers.

“Each year more than 38 billion single-use water bottles end up in U.S. landfills,” says Jason Carignan, chief design officer and co-founder of Vapur. “Though the adoption of reusable water bottles has grown rapidly over the past few years, it has done little to stem the flow of plastic bottle waste. We can further promote our message of sustainability through our partnership with Recyclebank, and we are honored to be part of their larger action toward everyday conscious consumption.”

Vapur believes that a key reason for the lack of impact reuseable bottles has made on the quantity of disposable bottles in landfills is due to the inconvenience of toting a bulky rigid water bottle around on a daily basis. With this thought in mind, the incredible team at Vapur came up with the genius idea behind the Anti-Bottle. Vapur hopes, the convenience, design and affordability of the Anti-Bottle will compel consumers to change their behavior and adopt a new habit of more sustainable portable water consumption.

“At Recyclebank, we’re always searching for like-minded companies to partner with and together encourage people to be more conscious of how they consume and dispose of products every day,” said Sue Igoe, senior vice president of Account Management for Recyclebank. “We are thrilled that Vapur has expanded its partnership with us for 2012. Vapur’s unique and innovative Anti-Bottles are a great fit for our members, who want to make smart choices for their families that are also eco-conscious at the same time.”
All Vapur Anti-Bottles are manufactured in the United States and use less energy to make and transport than traditional bottles, and produce significantly less waste in our landfills. The Anti-Bottle is a unique and novel hydration collection that underscores the company’s vision and leadership in design.

Vapur was thrilled to be a part of Conservation Alliance’s Third Annual Backyard Collective in Santa Barbara, CA this year! Vapur co-founders, David Cwerwinski and Jason Carignan, joined the effort along with Deckers, Patagonia, REI, Horny Toad and Channel Island Outfitters to make our “backyard” beautiful again.

The Backyard Collective was established by the Conservation Alliance in 2009 to team up with eco-minded companies in an effort to work together and preserve the local land. Each year, volunteers from neighboring companies set out on an outdoor community service project to clean up the environment in their community.

On Thursday, April 12, 2012, this group worked to restore the wetland and riparian zones along the Cieneguitas and Arascadero Creek in the San Marcos Foothills Preserve, which was damaged in the Jesusita Fire in 2009.

“The event was a success and we were excited to work along side so many great companies that share our passion for the environment,” said Jason Carignan. “Everyone got something out of the event, including a new Vapur Element!” Beyond time, the Vapur team contributed Element Anti-Bottles to all of the Backyard Collective volunteers and staff in an effort to help reduce waste and keep them hydrated in the Santa Barbara sun.
