The Thirst for Design Competition
On July 12, 2010, Vapur, Dwell Magazine and Opportunity Green teamed up to launch the Vapur Thirst for Design Competition. This competition was hosted on the international competitive design site, jovoto, inviting emerging artists around the world to design on our unique canvas; the Vapur Anti-Bottle®. Submissions were reviewed by an online creative community and three winning designs were curated by an esteemed panel of judges.

The Thirst for Design competition took place over a six-week period, during which almost 300 submissions and over 1,000 individual designs were entered. Selecting the winners was the most difficult part. Lucky for us, our esteemed panel of judges made the process of narrowing down the finalist much easier! The three winning designs, Bottle Dweller, Aqua Libre and Shark Bait, selected by these judges became the first edition of the Vapur Artist Series.
In addition to the Artist Series winners, the jovoto designers also chose six “Community Winners,” who won cash prizes based on votes cast by jovoto community. See these great designs below!
The Artist Series arrive in stores August, 2011. These limited edition bottles ship in a special Artist Series display and include a series of Collectors Cards, an Artist Series Poster and, of course, the bottles themselves. Contact an authorized Vapur retailer near you to find out if they have the Artist Series in their store.
The Collectors Box
Only 250 Vapur Artist Series Collector’s Boxes were created and distributed to the media and Vapur’s key partners. Theses boxes contained the three winning Artist Series Anti-Bottles, one set of Collectors Cards and a press release on the Vapur Artist Series.
We will be holding a contest in July, 2011, where Vapur fans can enter to win an Artist Series Collectors Box. Check out the Vapur Facebook page this July for more information!

Limited-Edition Series Unveiled in U.S. and Canada
Westlake Village, CA (June 14, 2011)—VAPUR®, creators of the flexible, reusable “Anti-Bottle,” is launching its much-anticipated, limited-edition “Artist Series” this June. The series features three winning designs from Vapur’s “Thirst for Design” competition, which took place in the fall of last year.
“Our Artist Series was such a meaningful and important initiative for us. We were thrilled to have an opportunity to invite and foster talent from around the world,” said Jason Carignan, Chief Design Officer and Co-founder of Vapur. “Hundreds of artists from all parts of the globe submitted artwork inspired by the Anti-Bottle’s unique form and innovative style. These three limited-edition designs make Anti-Bottles truly functional works of art.”
The melting pot of winners:
- “Bottle Dweller,” by David Herbst, 24, of Germany — a teal Anti-Bottle, featuring the graphic illustration of the Vapur “Bottle Dweller,” a somber, yet comical oval-shaped character, shielding himself with an umbrella from a downpour of water as the bottle is being filled.
- “Aqua Libre,” by Marcel Weik, 30, of Germany — a red Anti-Bottle with a front and back mask design. The title translates from French to “free water” and is homage to the Mexican style of wrestling, known as “Lucha Libre.”
- “Shark Bait,” by Waqar Hassan Syed, 24, of Pakistan — a blue Anti-Bottle, featuring the image of a clever little fish holding a sign to disguise himself as fierce, toothy shark.
Vapur will first unveil the Artist Series at the Dallas Gift Show on June 22 and will be available at gift shows throughout the summer for new and current authorized Vapur retailers in the U.S. and Canada, while supplies last. The limited edition Artist Series Anti-Bottles are only being made available to consumers through selected brick and mortar retail stores throughout the United States and Canada.
Also being introduced in June are the new Vapur Anti-Bottle “Sweaters” — insulated, sweat-wicking, knit bottle covers that protect the Anti-Bottle from the elements and keep beverages colder, longer. Vapur Sweaters fit both the standard .5L and .4L Fun-Size Anti-Bottles, keeping them cold and stylish. Vapur Sweaters are hand-washable and available in three-color combinations: grey striped, blue striped and pink striped.
All Vapur Anti-Bottles are made in the USA and can be rolled, folded or flattened when empty, and create the perfect canvas for the winning Artist Series designs, which are printed onto the front and back surfaces of each bottle. Vapur’s flexible yet durable body uses less plastic than a traditional rigid bottle and takes a smaller amount of energy to produce and transport. The Anti-Bottle is freezable, dishwasher safe, long lasting and BPA-free.
